AKA total disc replacement; this is a surgical procedure which in recommended in case of a degeneration of the invertible discs in the spinal column.  In this procedure, a device aka artificial disc is implanted into the spine. This helps to improve mobility or restore spinal strength. In order to determine if the patient needs a disc replacement, the doctor will perform certain tests like

• Discography – a procedure which involves injecting a dye into the disc
• CT scan
• X-ray
