Hysterectomy

Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of not only the uterus but also the fallopian tubes, ovaries cervix and other surrounding areas. This is recommended in cases wherein the patient is prone to uterine fibroids, irregular bleeding, and endometriosis. It is also recommended if a woman wishes to prevent any more pregnancies. There are two types of Hysterectomy; they are

  • Complete hysterectomy which is basically removing the cervix, fundus and body of the uterus
  • Partial AKA Supracervical which is leaving the cervix intact after removing the uterine body
