Spinal Fusion
Spinal fusion AKA spondylosyndesis or spondylodesis is a surgical procedure and technique that helps in joining two or more vertebrae. This procedure is performed in various levels of the spine. Spinal fusion helps in the prevention of any movement of the targeted area of the vertebrae. It helps to reduce the pressure on the spinal cord as well as relieves / reduces chronic pain caused due to worn out disc. The doctor may recommend spinal fusion as a last resort when other treatments have failed. It also helps in preventing the muscles, ligaments and nerves from stretching which can cause further pain.
